To do

BOHUSLÄN

Northern Bohuslän is a part of Sweden that is known for its nature with barren granite cliffs, shellfish fishing, archipelago. Whether you get around quickly on the E6 or want to drive the nature-beautiful county road 163, the whole of Bohuslän is within daily distance of our three houses.

ANCIENT MONUMENTS AT BLOMSHOLM

A couple of hundred meters from The Blomsholm Cabin is a large shipwreck, the third largest in Sweden, which probably dates from the younger Iron Age. It is just over 40 meters long and consists of 49 standing stones in the shape of a ship.

Visit Blomsholm manor, which is decorated like old times. It is open in the summer and has a small serving of ice cream and waffles run voluntarily by enthusiasts.

In the oak forest on the other side of the road there is an area with ancient fields and a burial ground from the late Iron Age with a large judge's ring. Nearby is a magical and slightly dilapidated forest, the Chatarina Forest. During the 1700s, there was a French-inspired natural park built by Mrs. Chatarina Blume.

About half an hour's walk from The Blomsholm Cabin is a cool giant cave, which is part of stage 27 of the Bohusleden trail..

BOHUSLEDEN stage 27

Bohusleden stage 27 takes you from Högstad to Strömstad, a distance of 15 kilometers. The hike is varied - everything from a piece of country road, winding paths in forest terrain to Strömstad's center overlooking boats and skerries. The entire stage is 15 km and takes 4-5 hours to walk.

The 27th stage of the Bohusleden trail invites those who are interested in history to a real smorgasbord. The stage begins in Högstad, but pretty soon you are surrounded by wonderfully hilly forest, where you pass several ancient monuments. A short detour takes you to a Bronze Age tomb, just before Bovall. The trail then continues for a bit on the country road before turning off again. Here you can follow the marked detour (about 150 meters) to Rogstads Hillern's windbreak, where from the top you are offered miles of views of Strömstad and Kosterhavet to the west. Shortly after the detour, the trail passes through a cool giant cave. Blomsholm is a detour on the Bohusleden trail in 10 minutes.

The Bohusleden trail takes you to Grönehög, an Iron Age burial ground with, among other things, Bohuslän's largest burial mound. This is about a 15-minute walk from The Blomsholm Cabin.

Just after Grönehög, the historic transport route Galärleden is crossed, which today is used as a combined hiking and canoeing trail. The trail was formed when Swedish soldiers in 1718 pulled twelve large galley ships from Strömstad to Idefjorden. The ships were pulled over land and marshes when they could not travel on water, with the aim of being able to attack Norway from unexpected directions.

LYSEKIL

Lysekil is a beautiful town at the far end of a peninsula with the Gullmarsfjord that has its mouth south of the city. Stroll from Gamlestan down the cobbled Kungsgatan, through the beautiful park, and out to the south harbor. There you walk on the jetty away towards the historic villas on the road to Havbadsparken down by the old cold bath house. If you want to know more about the coastal band's sea life and the Skagerrak, a visit to Havets Hus is a good fit. On the thank you terrace you have a good lunch and play a game of mini golf on the course next door. The city is crowned by Bohuslän's largest church, built in granite, from the old Schartauan community. The host couple comes from Lysekil and can give nice tips on doing.

KUNGSHAMN, SMÖGEN, BOVALLSTRAND, HUNNEBOSTRAND

These communities are located on a peninsula connected by a scenic road. Smögen is an island outside Kungshamn where you can take the car and a walk along the Smögen jetty on a beautiful day gives wonderful summer memories. In all villages there are cozy piers, restaurants and cafes to visit. Of course, there are beautiful bathing places here and it is possible to make detours for swimming along the entire coastal road.

FJÄLLBACKA AND GREBBESTAD

Picturesque communities that deserve the visitors' stop. Drive with advantage the beautiful road that stretches along the coast. There are golf courses both outside Fjällbacka and outside Grebbestad (Sannäs).
