BELOVED HOME
The house has soul and character and we love it all. It has been a real pleasure to renovate this house and restore its beauty.
KITCHEN
The kitchen is originally from the 50´s and we chose to keep it. We don't regret it for a second even though we upgraded it with a new fridge with freezer, an induction hob and convection oven. There is also a new coffee maker, kettle, microwave and toaster. Porcelain and glass, on the other hand, are beloved and charismatic flea market finds.
SWIMMING IN THE SEA AND LAKE
The lake is about 75 meters from the house and you can spot it in between the pine trees. The shallow sandy beach with its floating jetty and coffee table, is never crowded. This place is all about peace and quiet.
It takes just over five minutes by car if you want to go swimming in salty water. At Krokstrand you will find a child-friendly sandy beach and jetty. Within walking distance of the beach, there is a simpler restaurant with outdoor seating. Idefjorden outlines the national border towards Norway, so here you can look over to our neighboring country.
There are many other places for swimming along the coast. We have gathered information about our personal favorite restaurants, beaches and suggestions for excursions, and these can be found in the cabin when you arrive.
THE CHARACTER OF THE HOUSE
When you come to Solhem, the impression may not be fantastic to begin with. The terrace is a quite small and since it was built in 1931, the house has been given an extension that does not bode with its time. But we love this house! We have put our souls into fully renovating the inside and are truly happy with the result.
The exterior of Solhem will get its beauty boost in the latter part of 2023, but until then our guests can enjoy the lovely inside, the huge garden and the nearby beach.
LIVING ROOM
The living room is personally decorated with two sofa groups and our beloved crystal chandelier. The red sofa bed unfolds to a 140 cm wide bed and the living room has a door, so you can close if you are going to sleep here. There's a 50-inch smart TV, Chromecast and WiFi.
BATHROOM
The bathroom is small, but well-designed with new décor, paint and wallpaper. The shower stall is also new. We love the now three-color old door!
CLEANING AND BEDDING
As guests in The Solhem Cabin you bring your own bed linen and towels, as well as clean the cabin properly before returning home. It`s possible to rent bed linen and towels (20 € per person).

Bedroom #1
When we renovated the small bedroom, we found a beautiful wooden floor under the laminate flooring as well as beadboard and an old original door under the wall boards. This room is incredibly charming, with absolutely wonderful details! The bed is King sized.
Bedroom #2
In this large bedroom, which is also upstairs, there is a bed that is 160 cm and two single beds that are 90 cm wide. This room is bright and really large (4 x 5 meters).
